life groups

The best way to connect with others at Southside is through our small groups. Life Groups (for adults) and Sunday School  (for children and students) are our strategy for changing lives through small groups. Click on the link below to see our Campus Map & Schedule.

In Southside KIDS, our strategy is to partner with parents to produce spiritually mature adults.

Sunday Morning

9:00 am

In Sunday School, kids are taught engaging lessons that help them understand the whole story of the Bible--the story of God coming to rescue his people. They have a great time singing and learning about God through music in graded children's choirs.

Wednesday Night

6:30 pm

On Wednesday night, our kids learn about missions and missionaries as well as do Scripture memory. Our curriculum is Firm Foundations - Creation to Christ.

The mission in student ministry coincides with that of the main church body, which is To Know Christ and To Make Him Known. The student ministry actively lives out this mission by being:

Surrendered to Christ

Others focused

Living for God

Dead to self

Intentionally relational

Equipped in Scripture and Prayer

Radically obedient to God's callings and commands

Student ministry is a partnership with the family, for the personal discipleship of their student(s). Through the purposeful study of God's Word together, constant prayer, and radical obedience we are able to see lives transformed, and we are able to make disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Students have many different opportunities for fun, hanging out, serving, ministry, and missions through special events, activities, and trips. Every event and program is intentionally designed to carry out the mission, and we greatly enjoy being able to have fun and fellowship to the glory of God. If you would like to join us in this mission please come and fellowship with us on the following dates and times:

Sunday Morning
Life Groups - 9:00 am

Wednesday Night
S.O.L.D.I.E.R - 6:30 p.m. in the student worship center

Our King, Jesus Christ, is welcoming people form every culture, tribe, and nation on earth to look forward to that glorious day when He will establish His authority over earth. In Mathew 28:18-20, Jesus commanded the church to carry that message to the world so that those who would believe may come into the Kingdom of God. Southside Baptist church takes this commission seriously and we ask that our members participate in acts of obedience to fulfill Jesus’ commands. We want to be obedient by mobilizing the church to support the mission efforts that are planting churches locally, regionally, and internationally. Every believer is called of God to be a mobilizer and partake in God’s mission to reach the nations.

What Is It?
“Serve the City” is putting into action Jesus’ call to love our neighbors as ourselves. While we are called to do this every day, Southside will do this corporately by going out into the community to serve and love on them. The goal is simple: Love like Christ and expect nothing in return. Christ’s love will draw people to Himself.

What does it look like?
Southside will launch a mission trip into Suffolk.
We will send teams to work in neighborhoods and schools.
We will take VBS into the community.
We will deliver meals to our local public servants, such as the police and fire stations.
